Sunday Shenanigans 06/03/12

We had hail and snow this week.  Crazy right?  Almost June and still freezing weather!  Lily had fun eating the "ice cubes" falling from the sky.  Mostly a quiet week filled with playing and errands and the usual stuff of everyday life.

Puna and Papa sent Lily one dollar to buy herself a treat now that she is a potty trained big girl.  She chose a huge jawbreaker sucker.  Once she licked all the yellow off she lost interest.  It is wrapped up in the pantry, waiting for her to finish it off.

For Memorial Day we had Grammy and Grampy and Uncle Clark come for a visit.  Grampy showed us the grave sites for his grandparents and a lot of other relatives.  It was a sunny day and the girls really had fun being outside with their grandparents.  Annie didn't want to take a nap.  But she did have a nice snuggle with Grammy.  Once she had dinner and filled her tummy she crashed in the high chair.

The weather finally started warming up.  We ventured out to the park and have been doing a lot of yard work.  The girls are always asking for ice cream.  Annie opens her mouth so wide for each bite.  It looks like she's trying to get the whole cone in one bite.

Summer seems to finally be here.  We got the garden weeded and tilled.  We plan to start planting this week.  We measured the garden and were surprised to learn that it is larger than our house in square feet!  We have a lot of work ahead of us.

Sunday Shenanigans 05/20/12

The biggest news for the week is: LILY IS POTTY TRAINED!  We are all so excited.  Pretty much all our family activities revolved around going potty, talking about potty, running to and from the potty.  It was actually really fun and Lily was the one who decided it was time which made it a breeze.  No crying, only two accidents, and now we are at six days of success.  Great job Lily Bug!

We have a huge yard and we are spending a lot of time and money trying to maintain and improve it.  Jeremy always dreamed of having an acre and now he has got it.  The yard is so big that when the girls go play outside they look like little specks.  Can you see them in the picture above?  Our garden plot is huge and full of weeds.  We're not sure if we'll get it all cleared in time for planting this year.  But we'll do as much as we can.

Since Lily and Mommy were so busy with going potty this week, Annie had a ball making messes while Mommy was distracted.  This is the only one I photographed.  You should have seen the Cheerios/Goldfish cracker mess that happened on Thursday and the bucket of rice she spilled in the garage!

On Friday Lily wore her Halloween costume all day long.  Sorry for yet another potty picture but she looked so dang cute with her crayon hat on I just had to take another pic.  Can you tell I'm excited that she's potty trained?

Lily thought it was funny that I kept taking pictures of her on the potty....believe me there are so many more that didn't make it into the blog.  She wanted to take pictures of me watching her go.  So this is one happy momma who is proud to be sitting in the bathroom while her toddler uses the toilet.  Another milestone conquered!

And here's one little sister who just loves the camera!  I love those eyes.

We had playgroup at the park.  It was a perfect breezy day.  We were there over two hours and had a ball with our friends.

Tonight we had dinner with our friends the Floyds.  The girls dressed up in their princess finery to dine (aka drop food on the floor and spill their drinks) and enjoy some time in the enchanted gardens (aka the Floyd's backyard).  It was a magical week in our house.  We are so proud of Lily.

Mother's Day 2012

Our little family before church on Mother's Day.  We love you Grammy and Puna!  Happy Mother's Day to you.

Sunday Shenanigans 05/13/12

Life started to settle down for us this week.  We tried out the mower on our huge yard.  One acre sounded so good in theory, but the reality is a big load of work to do all season long!  The girls love riding on Daddy's lap while he mows.  I hope that will be a cherished memory for them.

We spent the weekend in Utah visiting Uncle Jake, our cousins, and the Hall grandparents.  The girls loved the trampoline in Jake's yard.  They got sun kissed cheeks playing out there the whole day on Saturday.

Annie sported some awesome new hair-dos in the same day.  The "Flock of Seagulls" look was achieved with sunscreen, clips, and a two hour nap.  The "Weird Science" look was achieved with water (an attempt to tame the previous look) and hours of trampoline fun.

Sunday morning we tried to get the girls together for a Mother's Day picture.  It didn't go so well.  But the fun of it will be remembering how hard it was to get them to pose.  Right?

Before the long drive home, we stopped to visit Uncle Josh, Chelsea, and Madilyn who were in Utah for Aunt Chelsea's brother's wedding.  Lily and Madilyn are two months apart in age.  It was great to see them play so well together.  Since Josh lives in Texas, we usually only see them once a year.

And once again we prove how difficult it is to get little kids to pose for a picture!  We are home safe now and had a lot of fun seeing Grandma and Grandpa and our cousins.  We're ready to stay close to home now and avoid traveling for a few weeks.

What a busy week!

On Friday April 27 we closed on our new house.  By 8:00 a.m. the next day we were moving in.  Papa and Puna drove all the way from Washington to bring us a refrigerator they had in storage and to assist us with the move.  We were also blessed with a HUGE moving crew of friends from church.  They moved us so fast.  All our belongings were transferred by 10:30 a.m.  Then the real work began.  We had a leaky kitchen faucet.  So Papa set out to fix it for us - it turned in to a bigger project than he had anticipated.  Puna helped by cleaning and distracting the kids so we could try to get things put away.

Annie our little Britches Bandit showing us her killer Zumba moves.  Lately she loves wearing panties on her head and over her clothes.  Such a silly girl!

We barely had time to find our clothes and toothbrushes in the moving boxes when it was time to drive to Utah to welcome home Grammy and Grampy Hall from their church mission to Hawaii.  They have been gone for a year.  We missed them so much.  They brought us lovely leis and candy.  Their flight was a red-eye so they were pretty tired.  We visited and had breakfast together, then jumped back in the car to come home.

Mommy loves our new house but really didn't like the bright red kitchen.  Grammy and Grampy came to visit and helped Mommy get started covering the red.

Lily was a great helper too.  She was so anxious to be involved and help.  Notice the paint all over her bum.  She backed up into the wall and covered her rear end with paint.  Mommy loves the more neutral color on the walls now.  More pictures of the house coming soon.

Today after church the girls had hot dogs.  Annie decided to try dipping her apple slices in ketchup.  Gross!  She seems to have inherited Papa's ability to come up with strange dipping combinations.  Last week he amazed us by trying strawberries dipped in ranch!

We are so happy to be feeling more settled in the house.  Thank you to everyone who helped us move, clean, paint, and entertain the girls so we could work.  We are looking forward to establishing our permanent home.
