One Year!

Some photos from Lily's one year photo session at Thulin Photography. Thanks for the great pictures Sue!

Our baby girl turned one last week. Since I've been giving updates every month on her development during the year I thought I should do one more for her 12th month. Here's the scoop:
  • Lily is 31 inches tall (98th percentile) and weighs 20.8 pounds (50th percentile)
  • She has six teeth, four on top and two on the bottom
  • She has started drinking regular milk and likes to drink it from a cup
  • Her favorite food is vanilla yogurt
  • She sleeps about 10 hours a night
  • She has learned how to climb up and down our stairs
  • She tried french fries for the first time this month...and LOVED them
  • She is wearing size 3 shoes and 12-18 month clothes
  • She loves to sing and dance to music
  • Her favorite time of the day is bathtime
  • She doesn't have any new words, but she loves to talk loud
  • Her favorite naughty things to do are: empty drawers of all their contents, dump out the dog food and eat it, and spit out her baby food

Birthday Party Part II

Puna couldn't stand missing Lily's 1st birthday so she flew us up to Seattle to celebrate again. Lily was so tired after such an exciting ferry ride but she put on a good face....until we put the party hat on.

When the cake came out she perked up again. She thinks the candles are totally cool.

And she digs the Happy Birthday song!

She knows what to do with birthday cake now. I took off her shirt and let her have at it.

She made a smaller mess this time around. We were glad to spend some time with the Wanners and share in celebrating our family's first year with Lily.

Ferry Ride

The weather on Saturday in Seattle was sunny and cool. We decided to take Lily for her first ferry ride. She loved it. When the wind hit her face she would laugh and scream and blow "razzberries" with her tongue. It was cold on the water so we tried to bundle her up. Her she is giving us a big smile.
Every time we took her on deck she would smile like this.....

Looking a little sleepy snuggled up next to Mommy and Puna.

A happy set of grandparents. Too bad Uncle Brady wasn't with us.

Look at those big browns peeking out from under the hat.

She was full of joy on the water. I've never seen her laugh for such a long period of time. People we didn't even know wanted to take pictures of her. Her joie de vivre was contagious! It was a glorious day.

Blowing out the Candles

I thought I had included this in the birthday post but I couldn't find it. Daddy had to help a little (A LOT) with the blowing, but Lily gave it a good effort.

Happy 1st Birthday Lily!

Lily turned one today. I had promised myself earlier that I wouldn't make a big deal out of her 1st birthday since she won't remember it anyway. But as the day came closer I realized I had to celebrate at least a little bit. This morning I put up some balloons and streamers.

At 6:30 pm Grammy and Grampy came over for a little party. Miss Lily was decked out in her party tutu.
After taking the above picture I decided we needed something prettier than my Kitchenaid mixer in the background so we moved to the couch for more birthday girl photos. She wanted to look at Grandma and Grandpa more than Mommy - I hope they got a good shot.

Lily opening her first gift from Daddy. A storybook. We want to start a tradition of giving a book for every birthday and Christmas. This book is titled The Boy Who Ate America.

Lily opening her present from Mommy. Mommy made three quiet books for church and a little activity bean bag with toys hidden inside for Lily to find.

Grandma and Grandpa win the prize for best birthday gift. Lily loved this musical farm. It is magnetic and all the pieces go on the refrigerator. It plays fun songs and animal sounds. I love that Lily's tongue is sticking out in the picture.

This is one happy girl! We couldn't get her to let go of the toy until she saw the cake.

I figured Lily was too special for just one tiny birthday candle, so I spelled out her name in candles on the cake.
She liked the singing and she was really digging the flames from the candles.

Once the candles were blown out, she couldn't wait to touch the cake. Here's her little hand print.

Her first piece of cake! Again - the tongue sticking out.

She had a ball with the cake. We have whipped cream and cake pieces all over the table, floor, high chair, wall, curtains, and birthday girl!

YUMMY!!!!
Partying with Grandma and Grandpa.

All day I would ask Lily how old she is and show her how to make a number one with her index finger. I couldn't quite snap this in time. She had her finger up in the air, but I caught it on the way down.
It was a fun little party. Lily got the hang of things right away. She even learned to show how old she is with her finger - although in this picture it looks more like she's pointing at me. We have had a blessed year with her and look forward to many more. Thank heaven for our little girl.

Fall Colors

No reason for this post...we just had fun after church playing in the backyard and snapped a few quick photos. Lily kept wanting to taste the leaves. It was hard to get her to look at us.

Lily received her first Halloween card in the mail today from Puna and Papa. She LOVED the purple glitter. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa!

Texas Trip

Lily and I took a trip to Texas to watch my five nieces and nephews while their parents took a trip to Australia. Lily had a great time playing with all her cousins. The three older kids were at school all day so usually I just had the three amigos to take care of. Here they are ready to go for a walk.....
I won't use the cousins names since my blog is still public. I can't get over how much Lily looks like these two....
Since kids find a way to get dirty every day. We had lots of opportunities for baths. I love that Lily is totally laughing in this picture.
And here's my last one of the three amigos. They were so cute together. I'll admit it was tough caring for six children without any other adult help, but we all survived and I think the kids had a good time. Lily was so tired that she slept the whole flight from Texas to LA, most of the flight from LA to Boise, and went straight to bed and slept all night. All that love and attention wore her out.
It's good to be loved!
