Raspberries!

A friend of ours went out of town and needed someone to check on their garden and pick their raspberries. We were happy to do it since we don't have a garden this year. I went once without Jeremy and then asked him to come back with me again so the girls could play and I could get more picking done. The girls had fun on the trampoline and Lily really like playing with the tetherball (she was concentrating so hard on the ball that in nearly every picture Itook she has her tongue sticking out). I got enough raspberries to make four batches of freezer jam and still had plenty of berries left to freeze. Plus my grocery store was running a special on sugar - if you bought two packages of pectin you got 5 pounds of sugar for free. I was happy about the deal and the free berries. Oh the joys of summer!

Porter Park

We took the girls to a great little splash park on Saturday. They had fun. It was a little too cool outside to enjoy the water. So after trying to stick it out we ended up going to the nearby playground. Annie rode a swing for the first time - and loved it! We had to chase Lily down and drag her to the car because she didn't want to leave and go to bed. She was pretty sassy the whole drive home but quickly fell asleep once we got home. Silly girl!

Sunday Shenanigans 08/14/11

We enjoyed a few more summer storms. Lily wanted to get all dressed up to splash in the puddles last Sunday evening. It was hard to get her back in the house.

Annie has discovered the dishwasher. Lily used to do the same thing at this age. I can't do the dishes without worrying about little hands or bodies climbing into the machine.

Lily loves to help me in the kitchen so I make a lot of play dough to entertain her. She is serious about her work. I can never get her to smile for me when I want a play dough picture.

The biggest news for Annie and Mommy is....Annie is fully weaned. She is loving sippy cups and likes to control her own eating and drinking. Way to go Annie!

Mommy and Daddy took a mid-week date night. Jeremy rented a tandem bicycle from the university and we did about a 10 mile ride. Then we had Subway for dinner.

This is Lily's trampoline. She loves it! This week she learned how to flip over the safety bar. It is her new favorite trick and she does it until she's sick every day.

Annie's two bottom teeth are cutting through. I think this will be one of her last pictures without teeth. I love that smile!

That's it for us this week. We hope you're having fun too!

Spudman Update

Jeremy's official time for the SpudMan was: 2hr, 48m, 5s!

If you want to see some of the official photos from the race click on the following word - zazoosh - there are 11 pictures of Jeremy during the race. Look for the "Find Photos" tab, locate the Spudman Triathlon. Jeremy's race bib number is 2954.

In a few weeks we will be in Logan for Jeremy to run a half marathon with one of our friends from graduate school. You can bet I'll be posting pictures of that.

Sunday Shenanigans

I've decided to try and update the blog every Sunday with our happenings of the week. This week we set up a tent in the backyard and "camped".

I was asked to make some potatoes and rolls for a funeral at church. Lily loved helping me make the rolls. See her happy roll making dance below. As you can see above, she didn't like helping me wash flour off every kitchen surface.

Annie is now big enough to ride in the wagon that Lily used to ride in. Plus now we can rest in the shade while Lily gives Annie a ride.

Lily conquered a difficult apparatus at the playground. She's been wanting to do it for months and finally just decided to try it this week.

She also got to fly a kite this week. I love the look in her eyes as she watches it in the air.

Annie decided to take the name "Readers Digest" literally and tasted some of Daddy's Wall Street Journal.

Lily wrote her name for the first time without assistance. I had to snap a picture of it. I can't believe my 2 year old can write her name!

The weather has been gorgeous this week. Perfectly warm days and cool nights with the occasional summer thunder storm followed by a rainbow.

That's all for now folks!

Eight and Nine Months

I missed doing our eight and nine month posts on Annie. So I'll combine them and post now while I can still remember what she's doing at this age. She loves the camera and always makes funny faces for me. She also loves her Puna. She likes to talk on the phone and hear Puna's voice.

She is teething, but no teeth are showing yet. I like to give her cold carrots to chew on. She likes them a lot.

We've taken her swimming a few times this summer. Whether or not she likes it depends entirely on her mood that day. Some days she cries the second she touches the water, other days she can't get enough of the water.

She is a great sleeper. She is sleeping through the night from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. and still takes one or two naps during the day. She can also sleep just about anywhere.

She loves to feed herself. It usually turns into a big mess, but I don't mind letting her try. Especially when she looks this cute.

She is a fairly fussy baby. Still clings to Mommy and wants her way all the time. But there are beautiful moments of silliness and happiness too.

Graham crackers are her favorite snack. She wants to eat them all the time! I think she is doing an independent study to find out if a baby can survive solely on graham crackers and yogurt.

Her latest trick is standing up. I love the supermodel pose she's striking. I think she'll be walking well before she's one. After all, she has a big sister to keep up with.

She is down to one nursing session a day. Mommy is so excited to almost be done with breastfeeding. Annie loves to try new foods but usually wants to go back to her favorite - graham crackers. She is not a fan of babyfood vegetables, but she will eat canned green beans. We were never successful in getting her to take a bottle but she can drink from a cup and loves to use sippy cups. She likes cold drinks and I've had success getting her to take formula if it is cold.

She can cruise along furniture very fast but doesn't like to walk while holding our hands. She can stand up without any assistance. Annie loves to try and play with Lily and Lily tries to be patient and include Annie. Annie is finally saying "mama" and has added "lala" and something that sounds like "hi" to her vocabulary. She recognizes her name and will respond when she hears it. She is more aware of singing now and really watches our mouths closely while we sing songs. She likes to babble in a low grunting kind of voice. She is wearing size nine month clothes.

She is very curious and doesn't like to feel left out. She always wants to try and do what Lily is doing. It seems like they are both growing so quickly. We are thankful to have such wonderful girls.

"Sleeping" in a Tent

I can't really call it camping because we were sleeping in an open field at the county fairgrounds and we had a full bathroom. But we did "SLEEP" in a tent the night before the triathlon. Our little tent wouldn't fit all of us so Jeremy slept in his one-man and the girls and I shared the two-man. It was really hot, Lily just couldn't settle down, the air mattress went flat, it started raining on us, we were near the street so we had lights shining on us and traffic driving by all night....can you tell we didn't get much SLEEP? Jeremy said he could hear me snapping at Lily to settle down well after the sun went down.

Lily loved it. As the tent was being set up she kept calling it a "tenk". She danced around it and inside of it for almost an hour. Annie loved crawling around the outside of it and pushing on the walls. I guess we need to do more camping so the girls get used to the idea of a tent.

And the next time we do the triathlon we are staying in a hotel!
