Lily's Haircut
Lily's bangs were getting long and kept bothering her. Last night while she was in the bathtub I asked if she wanted me to trim her bangs. She said she wanted to grow them out. So I put the scissors on the bathroom counter and forgot all about them.
This morning I was folding laundry and watching my new favorite show "Cake Boss." I could hear the girls laughing in the bathroom. I figured they were playing with their dress up jewelry and hair stuff and left them alone to play. I walked by a few minutes later and saw a sink and countertop covered in red hair! I screamed. Luckily Lily did a pretty good job and thankfully she didn't try to cut Annie's hair and didn't hurt herself or Annie.
She cut off a lot of hair, but it was an easy fix. Now she has thicker and shorter bangs and she really likes her new haircut. You can bet that I will never leave scissors on the bathroom counter again!

Bowling Owie
We took the girls bowling this weekend. When we explained to Lily that we were going to a bowling alley she thought we said "bowling owie." She was really worried about the bowling owies. We laughed and laughed about that.
Lily had fun using the ramp to push her ball and watching it bounce off the bumpers. She actually bowled a pretty good game for a first-timer.
Annie loved all the balls. Since "ball" is one of her only words she said it for an hour straight while trying to get her hands on a ball. We were afraid she would get her fingers smashed. She has also been sticking out her tongue a lot. A grandpa passed by her and told her she was going to catch flies with it.
About half way through our game Lily was ready for her afternoon nap. She was acting pathetic because we wouldn't buy her soda or pizza. We bowled as fast as we could and got the girls home to bed.
Our not-so-awesome scores. It is really hard to bowl well when you're holding a baby....or a Lily.
The high point of Lily's afternoon was running around the arcade. She liked driving this car with Kermit. Annie had a lot of fun. Lily thought the bowling moved too slowly. Maybe we'll try it again in a year and see if she likes it more.
Sunday Shenanigans 02/26/12
Annie is big enough to use the trampoline Lily received for her second birthday. She is just the right height to jump while using the handle as a teether. This is handy since she has been cutting four teeth at the same time this week.
We got a great snow storm this past week. The girls played in the snow a lot. I love the picture below. They both have their tongue out.
To warm up from playing in the snow we enjoyed a big spaghetti dinner. Spaghetti is Lily's favorite food. We think it might be Annie's too.
Lily is really turning into a great helper. She sets the table almost every night. We're still working on placing items in the correct spot.
Lily wanted to take pictures of mommy and daddy.
The girls spilled a whole bowl of popcorn on the carpet. I had Lily vacuum the mess up. She is afraid of the vacuum so this was a difficult punishment to enforce. I am pretty sure she won't be spilling food on the carpet again.
This Wednesday we had a power outage. Jeremy was away teaching a night class at the university so Mommy and the girls had to find our way in the dark alone for a couple of hours. Luckily Puna called and distracted the girls for a while.
It is starting to get above freezing during the day so we have pulled out the tricycle again. Lily was so happy to get on it and ride again.
Lily playing with her birthday present form Uncle Brady. She loves this ladybug.
Annie dressed up like Mommy. She wanted to wear an apron, carry a purse, and hold her baby. I promise I didn't teach her to hold her babies like that.
Daddy giving us his best Angry Birds face. What a fun and silly Daddy!

Valentine's Day
We extended our Valentine celebrations over two days this year. Monday night we received a package in the mail from Puna and Papa. Lily was most excited about the puzzle, stickers, and new clothes. She started putting together the puzzle with Daddy right away.
That night we had our Valentine dinner because on Valentine's Day Mommy was at the church with our youth hosting a night of free babysitting so the moms and dads could have a date. Mommy made Chinese style broccoli beef. It was delicious. Annie was only interested in the suckers from Puna.
The next morning we had breakfast as a family and Mommy and Daddy gave the girls their own boxes of chocolates. They were both so excited.
Mommy made our favorite German Pancakes and we served them up with warm homemade raspberry vanilla sauce and whipped cream.
For a break from cooking, Mommy took the girls on a lunch date to McDonald's. They loved the surprise and had fun eating and playing. It was busy at the restaurant so other mommies must have had the same idea.
Daddy surprised Mommy with a gorgeous pink hydrangea bush. We also had a fun date night the weekend before Valentine's day. Mommy was really busy at the church that night with our youth group. We put on a "Cupid Carnival" for the kids. The youth did a great job. We had over 50 children come to the carnival. The parents were very appreciative.
Lily was bit by the Love Bug and made valentines for her Primary teachers, gymnastics coach, grandparents, and a few friends. It is fun having girls because they enjoy holidays like this. We hope your family had fun celebrating too!
Happy Valentine's Day from the Halls
Sunday Shenanigans 02/19/12
We have started going to story time at the local library. The girls really like it. I like another activity that gets us out of the house during the winter. Their favorite part is the singing and dancing. We usually stay at the library after story time ends and read books on our own.
Lily enjoying a lime. This girls loves anything sour.
We love the song "Leo the Lion". Lily likes us to hide under a blanket and come out to roar at her. I just love this picture of Daddy laughing and smiling while playing Leo.
This is Lily doing her Angry Bird face.
The usual nightly craziness at our house.
We woke up Sunday morning to about 4 inches of snow! We went to church and then played the afternoon away. Lily learned how to make snow angels. A gorgeous winter afternoon.
