Water Fun!
After getting hot on the playground Lily was ready to consider the splash park again. When Mommy climbed inside this splash ring with her, Lily finally felt brave. Then we couldn't get her out of the water.
Here is our cousin Drake. He is so goofy and has a really great imagination!

Just for Fun
Grammy Hall bought Lily a little outdoor chair with Dora the Explorer on it. Lily sits in it all the time and loves to drag it around the house with her. Here she is one hot afternoon settling down for a relaxing read.
Lily really likes pickles. Just like her Daddy. But she doesn't like to hold them while she eats them. If Mommy pokes one with a fork, Lily will carry it around for about a half hour munching on it while she plays.

20 Months
Are we at 20 months already? Still hard to believe we'll be the parents of a two year old and a newborn in just four more months. We've been trying to make the most of this summer with just one child to run after. Here are a few of Lily's favorite summer things:
1) Watermelon popsicles! She devours these homemade popsicles. I just run some fresh watermelon through the food processor and freeze it. She can eat a whole one all by herself.
2) Gymnastics. I know she doesn't look too happy in this picture, but that's because we're on our way home from gymnsastics. She especially loves the balance beam and the tampolines. She's having trouble with some of the skills but I'm sure she'll figure them out soon. Mommy would love to get some pics of Lily in action, but it is too hard to chase her and assist her while taking pictures.
3) Fresh fruit. Lily has always preferred fresh foods to processed foods. Fruit is her all time favorite thing to eat. Apples are the fruit of the month. We went through a banana phase, a strawberry phase, and a pear phase too. Mommy can't wait to introduce peaches when they are in season!
4) The park! We have two in our neighborhood and there is one near Daddy's office. Sometimes we meet Daddy for lunch and let Lily run free while Mommy and Daddy have a nice lunch together. We go to the park down the street every day. Lily always wants to swing first then climb on the other toys. She loves it when other kids are at the park too. She tries really hard to keep up with the bigger kids.
Her vocabulary has not increased much but she is very aware of new words. When she hears a new word or encounters a new image she will ask "What's that?" over and over again until she can say the word or seems satisfied that we've given her the same answer ten times in a row. Once it all clicks she'll be a nonstop talker. Lookout world!

Fathers' Day
Jeremy got to sleep in a little Sunday morning. When he woke up, Lily presented him with his card and gift. Here she is showing Daddy her artwork on the envelope.
She is starting to understand opening presents and wanted to offer Daddy some assistance to speed up the process.
Two months ago Mommy bought tickets to see Brian Regan - Daddy's favorite comedian. It has been hard to keep the secret for so long. Daddy was really excited about his gift. We're going to the show this Friday night with some good friends. After opening presents we had a yummy breakfast of blueberry french toast and sausage.
After church, Grammy and Grampy Hall came over for dinner. Mommy was a little frazzled trying to get dinner ready and cooked on the grill while it was pouring rain outside so we didn't get any pictures taken. Mommy found a few quiet minutes to call Papa Wanner and wish him a happy day. Unfortunately his present hasn't arrived yet. Lily liked hearing Papa's voice on the phone. We gave Grampy Hall a homemade blueberry pie (can you tell the Hall men love blueberries?). Dinner was delicious. Grampy opened his present and he also got tickets to see Brian Regan! So I guess we're going to have a great time together this Friday.
Happy Father's Day to our Daddy, Papa and Grampy. We love you all so much!

Visiting Papa Gomes
My grandfather has not been well the past few months and we thought he might pass away recently so Lily and I made a quick trip to Washington to spend some time with him and see our family. Lily was so great in the airport and airplane. As long as she has some crayons she'll sit and color.

Lily was a little shy around Papa and Granny Gomes. After a few visits she began to warm up to them and even sat in bed with Papa for a while. Granny Gomes loved Lily's red hair. Lily loved Granny's playing cards.
In the mornings before work Papa Wanner would play with Lily. She really missed Daddy during this trip and loved the extra time with Papa. She would walk through the house calling "Papa!"
We went to see our Auntie and cousins too. Lily really like the chickens and running around outside with all the boys.

I bought Lily her first pair of sunglasses this year. She sat in the foyer at Puna and Papa's house to color while wearing her new glasses.

Daddy was late picking us up from the airport so Lily got to try out the video game machines. Thankfully she isn't old enough to realize they require money to work properly. She was happy to just sit and steer the race car while watching all the flashing lights. It was a quick trip but I'm glad we went. Daddy is glad his girls are back home.
